Day 116

So we're here. We made it. Ironically it has taken as much time to get here as time had passed since the Apocalypse had started (We began this section of our journey 58 days ago, on Day 58).

Now we stand reasonably safely in the Madley Satellite station. Obviously I will say now that we will only vaguely discuss what we do because although it is safe now, it might not always be the case.

When we arrived We climbed over the shut gates, and found a sight I didn't want to see. In case you don't know, my Dad worked at the station and was there on the day in question... Every body we see I get the fear that it is his. This body wasn't. It was the remaining arm of the unfortunate security guard on site. It had been wedged into the doorway of the security room as he was attacked, and how it was all that remained.

Obviously that meant that he would be elsewhere, but the main part was that the door, as any good security door, would deadlock and be pretty much unopenable from the outside. As it was open it meant we could access it and 'borrow' some keys. Here is where I will be vague. Mainly about the key organisation. I picked the relevant keys and took them. For today we would stay somewhere I knew to be warm, and safe within the safe realm of the station.

As we walked we discussed the silence for a moment before the noise of the site overwhelmed us. The continuous droning was something I had forgotten, and in fact this was bad. It was louder than the Rani. The only question rose was: why are there none around the edge of this place? Surely they would be attracted somehow?

I gave a brief description to Sam of the overall layout as we rested. We managed to get quite some use from the Binoculars and kite sight. It's interesting stuff watching the world end from where we stand. It's dramatic almost, like a scene from such a movie.

I hope you make another day
