Day 19

So we got up at 6am, and were ready to go by 6.30, but it was still dark. We debated, and finally I relented to Sam, she was right, it wasn't that dark, I was being over careful, and in a way reckless.

Our plan was going to be to cut around the outside of the town centre, to have open roads protect us from surprises, but if those men, or anyone the like were that near we wouldn't stand a chance. So we had to redraft the plan overnight.
It wasn't perfect but it was easy to follow.
Straight to the black and white house. Then round to bar spirit. Then to the back of the police station. Simple.

So we removed the barricade, placing it close enough to the doors that if anyone else ventured here they could get in and secure themselves quickly.
We took the closest stairs, well aware that the door here at the front may not work. It didn't.
After dozens of steps up then across the store top then down again we reached the other door, and opened it slowly, checking the surrounding area to make sure no Rani would jump out at us.
We made a leap over the broken glass in fear of making a sound again and set our sights on our first target. Though it was out of view right then. We past stores half looted and half bathed in blood, and so quiet. Ironically the only other time I ever saw it so silent was when I worked at Woolworths and was starting at 7/8am on New Years day.

Walking past the church we caught sight of the horror that lay in High Town. Bodies strewn across the paths in all directions in all manners of decay. The sight surprised me, but the smell was now familiar. We took care making our way through in case any of these were still 'alive'. As we neared the house I saw movement beyond it and pulled Sam behind the end of a bench. After a short while she saw it too. It was too far to see what state they were in, we knew it was too early in the day to risk it. My leg may have healed but it was still sore.

We opted for going another way which would take us to the front of the station instead.
We walked past a number of stores that looked half normal. Maybe closed on Day 1... But one caught my eye. The store that offered discounted brands! I always thought it was slightly dodgy, but with no windows broken, and the door ajar, I was going to take advantage of it. I knew some of the stuff they had in there.
I pointed and whispered my suggestions and was followed in. Sam guarded the door as I made a search, grabbing a few tshirts until I found my target.
A £50 pair of binoculars at a 5 finger discount, bargain... And better still, a travel map of Hereford and the surrounding areas. Perfect for a good few days travel in any direction on foot.
I stocked up on batteries and a few cheap torches then approached the door and threw a couple of the tshirts at Sam, which were promptly thrown into her bag.
"Anything you like?" I asked, she just shook her head, eager to just move on.

We started moving again but when we reached The Kerry I just had the overwhelming feeling to not go the front way. I stopped her again and suggested to her dismay that we go via the hospital. Which involved carrying on travelling the way we were for about 10minutes, then turning back on ourselves. I explained that this way meant we could still sneak up on the station and observe it before moving in. After 20minutes of her moaning, I regretted my decision, but we made it, and by climbing a wall we gained access to the carpet shop opposite the station. And I'm damn glad we did. We looked through curtains to see movement, and lights, and worst of all, the vehical from yesterday.

So our day has been ruined, but I'm taking the opportunity to actually rest up, without the worry of reanimation. We've talked and written down plans of action, even using Google maps to see the general shape of the building to see what we could do, and also made lists of the items we hoped to aquire. Sam is convinced guns will be available, even though these men will most likely take them all. I'm pretty sure stab vests and the half body sized plastic riot shields will be, and thats all I dare hope for... Though I hope they move on, and more so leave something decent for us to keep.

I hope you make another day
